JAKARTA – Badak LNG has once again succeeded in winning PROPER Gold for the 13th time since 2011. This achievement is the highest appreciation given by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) to companies that have complied with managing the environment beyond what is required and showing extraordinary performance towards sustainability.

This award was presented by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia K.H. Ma’ruf Amin took place at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/12). The award was received by the Director of Development and Production of Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), Awang Lazuardi, representing Badak LNG which is a subsidiary of Subholding Upstream (SHU).

Teten Hadi Rustendi, Director & COO and Acting President Director & CEO of Badak LNG expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the entire Badak LNG team. According to him, this achievement was the result of the efforts and cooperation of all the teams involved. “On behalf of the Company and management, we express our gratitude and gratitude for the hard work and commitment of all the Badak LNG team who have been involved in sustainable business practices. Badak LNG is not only committed to business sustainability, but also implements ESG aspects throughout its operations. For this reason, thank you to all workers, work partners and stakeholders for their support,” said Teten (22/12).

To date, winning PROPER Gold 13 times in a row is the highest achievement that companies participating in the PROPER assessment have been able to achieve. This success also proves Badak LNG’s consistency in maintaining the quality of environmental management and implementing community development programs in a sustainable manner so that the benefits are direct for the community.

Carrying out the MENARA MARINA (Towards Environmentally Friendly, Independent, Prosperous Fishermen) program as a form of social innovation in this year’s PROPER assessment, Badak LNG invites fishermen in Tihi-Tihi Village to replace the use of plastic bottles as seaweed floats with KAPSURULA (Friendly Seaweed Float Capsules). Environment) to reduce the impact of microplastics in the sea.

Kapsurula is an innovation resulting from recycling non-B3 polyurethane waste which has several advantages. The advantages are that it is more environmentally friendly, has a longer durability estimated at up to 40 years, and can also be a tool for navigating seaweed areas, thereby minimizing the occurrence of social conflicts. During this award, the leadership of Badak LNG also received the Green Leadership Intermediate award. This award is given to the heads of Pertamina’s subholdings and subsidiaries who succeeded in getting Gold PROPER.

This award is given to leaders who are deemed capable of providing solutions to five priority issues to save the earth and humanity. These issues are ending poverty, reducing inequality, empowering women, sustainable healthy food systems, and energy transition. Apart from that, Badak LNG also received an appreciation for Best Substance Presentation for the PROPER Video from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Thus, this series of achievements has become concrete evidence that in running its business, Badak LNG always applies the principles of sustainability and pays attention to the impact on the environment.(RI)
